Designing for several visitor needs
An ice-rink website serves several audiences. Visitors may be planning a public skate, families may be exploring lessons, and other customers may be interested in private ice hire. Each group needs to recognise the relevant activity and understand its next step.
The original Dreamkatcha portfolio example uses Ozone’s distinctive branding and skating imagery to introduce the venue. Its visual character is very different from a professional-services website, reflecting the energy and experience of the activity.
What the design demonstrates
- A bold visual identity suited to a leisure venue
- Activity-led website presentation
- Prominent imagery to communicate the experience
- Navigation designed around different visitor intentions
- A responsive approach for customers planning on mobile
- Clear space for practical venue and enquiry information
Balancing atmosphere and information
Venue websites need more than practical details, but visual impact alone is not enough. The useful design task is to convey the atmosphere of the activity while making sessions, lessons, hire options and contact information easy to explore.
This case study records the Dreamkatcha portfolio design. It does not claim responsibility for every later change to Ozone’s current live website.
